Castles in the Sand meets Alcoholics Anonymous

I am asking that my numerous readers (all six of you) pray for me. At noon Castles in the Sand and I are going to an AA meeting at the Episco-contemplative church where the labyrinth is located. Last week I left a copy of Carolyn A. Greene’s excellent novel at the entrance of the labyrinth.[1]

Castles in the Sand, you see, is a weapon. The author shows what happens to many through spiritual formation/contemplative spirituality. She does it through fiction. The book has a very interesting view of labyrinths.

Many of these AA folk undoubtedly walk the labyrinth, having no idea what its purpose really is. I am, hopefully, going to give this book to one of these folks. I want to tell you, I am no fan of Christian fiction. I do not believe we should be making up conversations between Paul and Barnabas, or any of the Apostles, or anything like that.

Castles in the Sand is set in today, in a Christian college. Pray the Lord uses this book just to get someone thinking about these things.

Whatever happens will be documented on this  blog this afternoon.
